How QRakshak works
QRakshak turns a printed QR code into a living safety record. You set it up in minutes, and anyone who finds the QR can help without installing an app or creating an account.
Four steps from purchase to protection
The owner flow runs in one direction: buy the QR, activate it, connect family, and keep it current. Each step below lists what actually happens.
- Step 1
Buy QR
Choose a QRakshak QR for the thing you want to protect. Each QR is issued for one of five safety categories — Vehicle, Child, Elderly, Woman, or Luggage — and ships as a printed sticker, card, tag, or wristband that works with any phone camera.
- Pick the category that matches what the QR protects.
- A physical QR sticker, card, or tag is issued for that category.
- The QR carries an opaque token, not your personal details.
- No helper app and no helper login are required.
- Step 2
Activate
Open the owner app, set a 4-digit PIN, and scan the QR once to bind it to your account. QRakshak reads the category from the QR payload, asks you to confirm it, and then shows the fields for that category.
- Set a 4-digit PIN — no OTP and no email.
- Scan the QR once to link it to your account.
- Confirm the category that QRakshak auto-detected.
- Fill the category form, for example vehicle_number, vehicle_type, and emergency contacts.
- Step 3
Connect Family
Add at least two family or trusted contacts. QRakshak keeps those numbers behind the scenes and reaches them through a masked relay, so a stranger who scans the QR never sees a phone number.
- Minimum two contacts, each with a name, phone number, and relation.
- Contacts receive scan alerts by email and push, and can be reached through a masked call.
- The helper sees a “Call family” button, never the number itself.
- Contacts can be edited or reordered later from the dashboard.
- Step 4
Stay Protected
Print or download the QR, keep it on the protected item, and manage everything from the dashboard. Every scan and reveal is logged, and you can revoke the QR or let it expire whenever you want.
- Print the QR or download it as PNG or PDF.
- Track status and scan count from the dashboard.
- Edit category fields at any time.
- Revoke a lost or stolen QR; expiry is supported too.
What the helper sees
The person who finds the QR is the most important user in the flow. They scan with a normal camera, land in a browser, and reach help in a few taps.
H1 — Result page
A masked card shows a short display name, the category, and the QR status. The photo stays behind a locked placeholder until the owner allows it. Three actions are always available: Call family through a masked call, Share location, and the 112 dial option.
H2 — Family alerted
The page confirms that the scan reached the family contacts, asks for location consent, and shows the 112 dial option for a life-threatening emergency.
H3 — Action success
The call or share is confirmed, the helper can return to the result page, and the session can be closed. No account is created at any point.
Privacy rules on the helper page
- Masked view is the default for every category.
- Full details open only when the owner allows them.
- The Woman category never exposes the owner’s phone number.
- Every helper scan is written to an audit log.
